When David Hockney discovered the iPhone as an artistic medium, the iPhone opened up whole new possibilities for his art. He made his first digital drawing in the spring of 2009, depicting the morning scene directly onto a display that offers an unmixed representation of pure light with wide lines and brilliant colors. Then, in 2010, Hockney started working on an iPad, and the larger screen expanded his artistic repertoire and enabled much more complex interactions of colors, lights, and lines.
